Marketing/Promotions For Authors
As an indie author myself, I love to support and promote other indie authors. Because of my appreciation for the indie community, I will happily promote any independent author, as long as you read the policies below and abide by the terms. Some promotions are free of charge, and some have a small fee for the service, stated clearly in the service description. However, donations are always welcome, because let's face it, it takes time and effort to manage a blog, promote authors, write my own books, promote my own books, and still have time to care for my home and family. :)On that note, check out our Menu of Services, and if you're interested, fill out the contact form on the Contact Me page!!
DSP Promotion Services
Tier I Requests
Interviews:
Interviews are easy, and always free. Fill out the contact form, and in the message section, please include your name along with the name of your book(s) and specify if you'd like an Author Interview or a Character Interview. I'll email you back with a list of interview questions, and all you have to do is send me your answers, we'll agree upon a date, and I'll post it. Easy peasy!Guest Blog Posts:
Another free service (why would anyone charge someone to do all the work for them?). Fill out the contact form with the appropriate selection, and let me know in the message area if there is anything you prefer writing about. If you have an area of expertise, this would be the place to mention it! I'll email you a list of topics to choose from if we have anything going on or if you request it in the message, you write up a blog post (please use spell check, and use proper grammar!), email it back to me, and as long as it is suitable for the blog per the fine print at the bottom of the page, I'll post it! Of course, I'll email you back to let you know when it will go live. **If you do not request a list of topics, I'll assume you will be providing your own material!!**Book Tour Stops/Spotlight Features:
If you have a book tour coming up or if you just want me to post something promoting your book, I can do that. Use the contact form, and in the message area, let me know what you're looking for, what (if any) specific dates you have in mind, and indicate whether or not you have a media kit available, or at least a series of documents/pictures that are ready to use. The more information I have up front, the easier it will be for me to make it happen. I really need to know whether you have a specific date or date range in mind, though, because I don't promote two authors in one day. If I'm promoting you, you have my blog for the entire day.Tier II Requests
Cover Reveals:
I love these, they make me happy. If requesting a cover reveal, let me know what day you would like me to post it, any details about the artwork and artist, a short blurb about the book (especially important if part of a series!), and a couple of words about the author. I'll make sure it goes live as requested (as long as it is a week or more in advance) and I'll stay in contact with you as needed.Giveaways:
With giveaways, I need a little info, and I'll host a Rafflecopter giveaway. Include in the message the name of the book (or books) you're willing to give away, how many copies you have to give away, what format (paperback, all eBook formats, Kindle only, etc) and how many of each if multiple formats, Facebook/Twitter/website/blog addresses to be used in Rafflecopter for the giveaway, and how long you'd like the giveaway to last. If you have a start date in mind you would also want to mention that, though I can't guarantee specific dates. I will try to work with you, though.Review Requests
***UPDATE!! As of 7/14/2014, I am accepting a VERY FEW books for review, and those must be in either paperback form or formatted for the Nook (.epub) unless it's something I REALLY want to read, then I'll take it in other formats. I have found limited time in my schedule to read again and want to review, but the only way I can do so is on my Nook or in paperback since I'll be in a secure facility. Please keep this in mind when requesting reviews, or I won't even respond.
- Young Adult Fiction
- Paranormal
- Horror
- Romance
- Series (if starting with book 1)
- Fantasy
- Sci-Fi (NOT Star Trek style)
- Chick Lit
- Mystery
- Thriller
- Historical Fiction
- Dystopian
- Some Erotica, but I have VERY high standards and can be somewhat harsh on these books
I am not interested in reading or reviewing: Non-Fiction, Military/War books, Poetry, Action/Adventure, Children's books, Graphic Novels, Self-Help, Religious, or Inspirational. Not that any of these are bad genres, but everyone has their preferences. :)
I am only taking a VERY select number of these. I have a lot of other obligations, so I cannot guarantee that I will be able to review your book, and even if I do agree to review it, it may take a few months before a review is posted, depending on how swamped I am at the time. Please DO NOT email me with digital copies of your book unless you've already filled out the review request on the contact form. If I am interested in your book, I will request it. I prefer paperback copies (call me old-fashioned, I like the feel of a book in my hands, and I love autographed copies! Hehe) however I have a Nook and I have a Kindle app on my phone, or I accept PDF files. If I agree to read a book, I will post my review of it, be it good, bad, or ugly, and I'll also post that review on Goodreads.com and possibly Amazon.com, however you are welcome to share the review on other sites for promotional uses, as long as it is not used for commercial purposes (ie book cover/dust jacket inserts) without my consent. You can request commercial reproduction requests through the contact form, just please explain it in the message.
Tier III
*Paid Services*
Editing/Proofreading
While by no means am I a professional editing company, I am pretty savvy and knowledgeable when it comes to editing and proofreading. Since I'm not marketing my work as being a professional editing company, I can afford to charge less than what a professional company or professional individual would charge. Many places charge by the word, but I don't like math. Math rarely involves words, except in word problems in middle school, and I hated those as well. I'm charging a flat rate. Turnaround time for reviews are typically 2-4 weeks from the time I begin working on the edits. If you contact me, and I'm backed up on editing services so that I can't get to your work for a while, please note, the 2-4 week turnaround doesn't begin until I finish with everything ahead of your work. What does that mean to you? SCHEDULE EARLY!! The first step is to fill out a form to contact me, indicate you want our Proofreading/Editing service, and in the message, tell me the name of the book, the word count, and the anticipated publication date. I'll respond letting you know what kind of time frame we would be dealing with, and whether or not I can make your deadline. There is the option to add on our rush package for an extra $50, which would enable me to get to your manuscript earlier, if there is a delay, but that would be something discussed via email. If you would like to utilize this service, fill out the form first, and if the turnaround time is agreeable, come back to this page and click the button below to purchase the service. I ONLY accept PayPal, for security purposes. ***THIS SERVICE IS NON-REFUNDABLE ONCE I BEGIN WORKING ON YOUR MANUSCRIPT. This is due to the fact that time is incredibly valuable, and if you change your mind halfway through the editing, despite my best efforts, I haven't yet been able to go back in time, so I can't change the amount of time we already put into the edits. It's only fair. If a payment plan is needed, I am willing to work something out with you, just let me know up front. I'm not unreasonable, so please don't hesitate to ask, just don't insult me. :)
As for what's involved, I will take your manuscript, save a copy and rename it to [Your Title] Edited by Ash, and use the "Track Changes" option in Microsoft Word, so you'll only need to accept/reject my changes. I'll make comments about things that stand out to me and/or make me ask questions as I go along, perhaps things that don't make sense or don't flow well-anything that needs your attention. You are under no obligations to make any changes I suggest in the comments, they are only suggestions and things I'm not clear on. Ultimately, you decide how involved you want to be in the process too, so we tailor it to YOU. After all, it's your story, your work, your baby. I'm just here to make it easier on you.
