D is for Damien Hartford: Teenage Vampire Hearthrob

At last, we come to the character I can't wait to talk about, mostly because so little is known about him! He's also the one everyone wants to know more about, so today is your lucky day.

**SPOILER ALERT!!**

If you have NOT read any of the Daughters of Night books, and don't want to have any parts ruined, you may want to skip this post and move on to the SECOND D-Day post!!

We first meet Damien in Sanctuary, as a young man who sacrifices his blood-and then his life-for Carmen. He then gets reborn as Carmen and Gaviyn's son in 1996, as Damien Heath Hartford (Heath in honor of Carmen's maiden name, Heathers). He is the first of his kind, born a vampire with the power of a witch. He ages and develops like a normal child, with the exception of severe bloodlust in his early years.

His power is impressive. He inherited Carmen's power of seduction and Gaviyn's telepathy, both of which were tripled in strength. He has the ability to create energy balls, like with any witch, and inhuman speed-faster than any other vampire. Damien can also heal and conjure, but abilities unique to Damien alone include the ability to astral project himself and the ability to manipulate all the elements: fire, water, air, and earth.

Damien's powers are coveted by many, and causes his life to be in peril more than once. He gets kidnapped, tortured, and beaten in an attempt to break him. A demon tries to take control of him. His is a dangerous existence.

His love of his family and the values his parents instilled in him are what drives him to push forward, even when his will is breaking. He is young and full of potential, so who knows what exciting adventures the future holds for Damien Hartford?

That's it for this post, kids! Make sure you check out the second D-Day postCome back tomorrow for E Day, which should prove to be rather interesting!!
