Flowers, flowers, everywhere!! But not in my front yard. Yet.
Okay, so I totally stole that line and reinvented it from Willy Wonka (the original movie, with Gene Wilder, not the creepy one with Johnny Depp), but it fits.
My front yard has been cause for a concern for the three years my hubby and I have lived here. Partly because I have the polar opposite of a green thumb and kill all plants, partly because the last time I tried to do any yard work I ended up in the Emergency Room. Literally.
And believe me...it was not the kind of ER with the hot sexy doctors and nurses.
But I'm venturing into uncharted territory tomorrow afternoon, and I'm taking on not only mowing the yard with a steep hill that might just kill me, but I'm removing a decaying stump, de-weeding the flower bed, and planting different types of flowers in my yard. I'm a little nervous that I'm going to have weeds take over the flowers, but hey, it's my first year attempting gardening of any sort. It'll be a miracle if anything blooms. Lol!
So I thought I'd post a pic of the flowers I plan to plant. If I can come back to the post during the daytime, I'll try and post the before and after pics, especially after the new flowers bloom. I don't know what's going to happen, but I figured I'd give it a go! Here are pics of what the flowers SHOULD look like when they bloom:
How pretty are they?! Hehe, let's hope my thumb turns green before I tackle these, because I REALLY wanna have a beautiful yard for once!
Best of luck with your gardening ventures! BTW, I love the original Willy Wonka movie. :)
ReplyDeleteHaha, thank you! I ran into a little hiccup and didn't get to get any work done yesterday after all. We have a decaying stump and it looks like it's infested with termites. Yeesh! Getting the exterminator out to check it, we can't tell if they're just tiny ants or actually termites. We're keeping our fingers crossed that it's just a lot of ants. I can deal with ants, but the interior of our house is all wood. Nightmare waiting to happen!
DeleteAnd I'm a total sucker for the original Willy Wonka, though I won't lie, Gene Wilder creeps me out like crazy!!
What happened in the garden that warranted a trip to the ER? :O I hope your latest gardening venture has more positive results. xD
ReplyDeleteHaha, oh, it's a little embarrassing! I have a strange phobia of trees, and there was a tree growing over the walkway between my house and my neighbor's house. I had just finished mowing the backyard and was pushing the lawnmower down the walkway, and when I came to the tree, I panicked a little. I didn't want to walk through it, and I couldn't get around it unless I climbed over my side porch. So, I pushed the lawnmower through and opted to climb over my porch. It was only about 3 feet high, maybe 3 1/2 feet, so I didn't think it was so bad. I didn't take into consideration that I'm not as young as I used to be, I fell, and the way I landed I twisted my knee hard enough to tear my ACL.
DeleteOne would think if I have a fear of trees I wouldn't try the nonsense of yardwork and gardening, but this is my therapy; I'm trying to get over it. :D
