July Blog Challenge Day 6: 3 Wishes

I'm jingling severely as I write this, so pardon me if I get distracted!! I just returned from the Renaissance Faire, and while I shucked the skirt before I even got in the car, I'm still wearing a coin wrap, a jingly headpiece, and a jingly bracelet. And they are mighty distracting...I keep shaking my arm furiously to make it jingle. You should see me trying to make the headpiece jingle...

But see, I'm already off topic!! Today's blog challenge is to answer the age old question: If you had 3 wishes, what would they be (and no wishing for more wishes). Okay. I'm up for that challenge! And even though this is similar to the things I wish were true, I'm going to come up with 3 more wishes. Ready? Kay, here goes!!

My 3 Wishes

1. Infinite genies each granting 3 wishes a piece. What? It said no wishing for more wishes, not no wishing for more genies!! FINE, I'll play by your rules.

My (Real) 3 Wishes

1. Clothing is optional. Laugh all you wanna, but if I didn't have to worry with clothes and shame and junk like that, I would be butt naked all day every day, and so would you!!

2. Goodbye fat! Lol, seriously, do you have any idea how much my life would improve without lugging around ten thousand pounds of fat? Me neither, but I'd love to find out!

3. Stable home and finances. I don't need a crap ton of money, just enough to make our lives comfortable and stable, so we can begin the fostering process. And the stable home thing is a permanent forever home that we're all happy with-rather than having a house we've outgrown and not happy with anymore.

I know, not very profound, nothing really exciting, but hey, not everyone wants the world. I just want my part of the world to be happy.

July Blog Post Day 5: Create a Superhero

Today's challenge is to create a superhero and describe them in 500 words or less. And away we go!!

Meet Infinitum

Infinitum has always been here. Since before the beginning of time, and he will be here long after time ceases to exist, he will be here. He was not born, or created; he is neither alien nor monster. He simply is.

Standing at an impressive 6’10” with well-defined muscles, he is a lean powerhouse of strength, though not inhuman. He has dark brown eyes and smooth tanned skin, flawlessly perfect complexion complimenting the shoulder length shaggy white hair. Dressed in a black leather coat over a dark blue fitted shirt with sleeves halfway down his forearms and sides cut out to reveal black lacing, he gives the edgy look a new, sexy, ethereal face. Loose fitting black pants and black combat boots round out his ensemble. Equipped with a single 7” bone handled knife, the blade jagged on one side while smooth but sharp on the other, curved dangerously and made of the same metal as his unusual handcuffs-described only as diamond steel, and stronger than both components of its name while remaining lighter than lithium or tin-he relies heavily on his other abilities to subdue his enemies.

Infinitum is a precog and a telepath-he sees crimes from the inside of a killer’s mind, then prevents the crimes from happening. Remember that time you were mugged on your way home from the movie theater late at night? No? You’re welcome.

Sometimes, however, things happen to prevent Infinitum from stopping crimes, making his healing ability very convenient when a victim does become injured-even to the point of near death. His telepathy and precog abilities are never wrong, although they don’t always give the name and address of the criminal, or what exactly their intentions are. That’s where his partner becomes very helpful.

Infinitum has a partner-Elemental Spark-a petite, radiant woman born with the ability to manipulate the five elements and control lightning. This has proven to be a major benefit in capturing criminals where Infinitum’s abilities are fuzzy. Using Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Spirit, she can often locate criminals and find details about them to help prevent crimes. Spark protects them both with a force field impenetrable except by the lightning she controls, which is the only thing protecting Infinitum and Spark from the mental abilities of their enemies, as well as physical dangers they face in battle. Though Infinitum is immortal and shares this benefit with Spark for the time being, they can still be injured, and it’s possible Infinitum’s immortality may one day fail Spark.

Their nemesis, Nocturne, is a deranged psychopath with the ability to enter dreams and manipulate or kill. This poses a problem for Infinitum; his precog and telepath abilities don’t reach into dreams, and thus hides Nocturne from being captured. He also possesses mind control, frequently manipulating innocent minds to kill. They’re then captured by Infinitum. Infinitum and Spark are susceptible to the mind control, and have to be cautious, relying on Spark’s shield.

Despite their shortcomings, this duo out to save the world.

Word count-500 exactly. I'm the bomb diggity!! Lol, I won't lie, there are so many more details that I wanna share, but it just wouldn't all fit unless I started writing everything in shorthand and abbreviations, but then I actually WANT people to read this, so...lol!! Happy reading everyone!! :)

Kindness is What You Make of It

I was sitting here trying to think of a way to do something nice and kind today without having to leave home, courtesy of the wonderful rainy weather. Then it dawned on me. Kindness doesn't have to be some big extravagant act. It doesn't have to impact a million lives, or be a life-changing event for one person. All it has to do is bring a smile to someone's face. That, my friends, is kindness.

For today's act of kindness, I didn't have to look further than my own cell phone. I grabbed my phone and made a few phone calls to people I haven't talked with in far too long.

Starting with my Mamaw. I have to say that the 45 years separating us in age doesn't stop us from finding things to talk about, and I love hearing how her voice lights up when she gets to talking. It's like a kid in a candy store when she gets an unexpected phone call from someone, and I simply adore those phone calls. I need to make them more often. Plus, she brightened my day too. It's such a dreary looking day outside, and we were talking about it, and her words made me smile when she said, "If we can just look between the rain drops we can see happiness through the clouds." Good lord, that is a WONDERFUL thought! I'm so totally using that quote in my next book, one way or another.

Then I called my Aunt Mandy, who isn't that much older than me. I haven't talked to her in months, maybe even a year or more! But I gave her a call and we sat here laughing while reminiscing about all the crazy stuff we used to do when we were younger. It was  nice to spend that kind of time just BS-ing and goofing off.

It wasn't a grand act of kindess, but it made a difference in the lives of two people, and that's all that matters. I call today a win for kindness. On to tomorrow!!

July Blog Challenge Day 4: Ten Things You Wish Were True (But Aren't)

Everybody has something they'd like to change. Some people might wish for unicorns that poop glitter. Actually, that would be kinda cool...but anyway, here's ten things I wish were true!

Ten Things You Wish Were True (But Aren't)

10. Everything in the nature is edible. Seriously, just like in Willy Wonka. Trees, grass, rocks...no more hunger, and everything is just absolutely yummy!! Hell yeah!

 9. Real life do-overs. Every time you realize you make a mistake, you get the opportunity to do it over again, and do it right this time. Granted, I think there should be a limit on how many you get per year or some other limit, because dear god, we'd never progress at all otherwise! But how great would it be to get the chance to make good on your worst mistakes.

 8. Paranormal and fantasy creatures really exist. Faeries, goblins, elves, pixies, vampires, werewolves, all the fantasy creatures. To get the chance to exist alongside these awesome things...the fear of the vampires and werewolves, dancing with the faeries and pixies...the magic of it all is just awesome.

 7. The end of diseases. Hokey? Maybe. But how great would it be to live in a world where you never get sick? No more cancer, no more common cold, no more AIDS, not even other STDs. No more sickness, period. FABULOUS.

6. Aging happens in reverse. Don't you know we all age the wrong way anyway? We should be born old and get that crappy part out of the way. That way youth is no longer wasted on the young, we'll have time to enjoy it after we've learned all our life's lessons. Then end up life as an orgasm. HA!

 5. Vacations are taken to alternate universes. You know, I'd love to see an alternate reality. I mean, think of it. This can't be all there really is to life, there has to be another reality in another dimension, and I gotta go. Who's going with me?? :)

 4. Medieval Ages lifestyles were still practiced. Not, like, the hygiene standards or the gross living conditions, but the honor and certain ways of life. Like, castles, pretty princesses, knights in shining armor, the honor code, a hard day's work meant something, the clothing...actually, just give me the damn Renaissance Faire year-round and let me run wild.

 3. Politicians take a pay cut in order to benefit the national deficit. Like it would ever happen, but I'd poop sparkles and glitter and butterflies and rainbows for this one. Could you even imagine such a radical thought? I might get sent to Guantanamo Bay just for thinking it! Hehe, but no seriously, it makes me sick thinking about how much these corrupt politicians rake in while there are more people homeless and below the poverty line than ever before. I don't do politics, like at ALL, but even I know that the shady politicians are the downfall of our economy. And just think of how much money we'd all have once they stopped stealing it all from us!

Speaking of money...

 2. Infinite supply of money. Oh, the things I could do with an infinite supply of money...like, fix up my house, pay off my bills, take my family on a vacation to an alternate universe, cure all diseases, fund my addiction for Renaissance Faire stuff....hehe.

 1. Equality. Peace, love, understanding, respect, and acceptance of all. Be it gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, nationality...all of it. Equal. No more friggin nonsense. Period.

30/30/30 Challenge Update & HAPPY 4th OF JULY!!

Okay, so as you may or may not know, I decided to dedicate the 30 days before I turn 30 to doing 30 acts of kindness.

Yesterday was day 2, and I signed up to make blankets for the wounded soldiers and vets, signed up to send extra cards and letters and stuff to soldiers having a tough time, and signed up to give extra support to the women of the military, either with care packages or with words of encouragement. I also made an encouragement card and wrote my first letter to my adopted soldier. Whew!!! All that, and only 2 days into the challenge.

Crap, dude, I'm gonna be too busy to finish!! Hehe.

So, today I'm stuck in the house on a rainy ass day with no car. If it weren't rainy, I'd walk my butt up to Starbucks and start holding the door for people, but I dunno if I can brave the rain and chance the sickness that's sure to follow. Hmmm. Will update later with what I end up doing today. :)

By the way...

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!!

To all my American friends, enjoy the festivities of this great day! And drink one for me! Make the most of this rainy day and be careful with the fireworks tonight.

Today is the day we celebrate our freedom. So if I may ask my friends to take a moment during today's festivities, picnics, parties, concerts, festivals, and other plans to reflect upon what today really means. We celebrate because of the men and women who defended us in 1776 as we fought to earn our freedom, and we celebrate because of the men and women who have defended those freedoms every single day since.

To our soldiers, past present and future...

THANK YOU.
